The First Meow
In 2019, Japanese illustrator Juno shared a simple sketch online: a round, fluffy cat in a shark costume. What started as a playful drawing quickly captured hearts all over the internet. Fans were charmed by the quirky mix of softness, humor, and expressive cat faces.
This first viral “meow” gave birth to what would become the Mofusand universe, a world full of absurdly cute cats in unexpected situations.
From Sketch to Shelf
Two years later, Mofusand took a leap from digital drawings to the real world. The first official blind box series was launched in Japan, transforming Juno’s characters into collectible figurines.
Fans could now hold their favorite chubby cats in their hands, from fried shrimp cats to sushi cats, every box held a surprise. The blind box concept only amplified the excitement, turning every purchase into a joyful moment of discovery.
